Truthful Tuesdays

All I really want for Christmas (that money can't buy b/c w/ money I will get a 50mm 1.8 lens!) is to get caught up to current day on this blog!  I am posting pictures from March 2009 right now.... I WILL get there... eventually.  Hopefully during the holiday break from work I can get some done.  I also really want to get caught up on Z's baby book.... I have a gorgeous scrapbook for him that I've barely done anything in b/c I am too busy playing with photos.  ;-)

To piggy back on Elizabeth's post in a non-photo kind of way... Two years ago I got my present on Christmas, I just wouldn't know if for 2 more weeks....I've got my boy... now I just need a girl ;-)  Hopefully when the time is right.  Heavens... then I will even MORE pictures to take and less time to edit them (so hopefully I will just get them all right in camera).  I love it :-)

Not Me Monday!

Because I am an avid photographer with all the time in the world, I would make sure to get class assignments done on time.  I'd spend two whole weeks getting the best pictures I could.  I would never ever try to get all the shots I need for the assignment in one or two days of shooting, and heavens forbid, I would never EVER forget to take my camera with me to work on the 2nd day to make sure I had another chance to get the needed shots.

Nope, not me!

This will have to do.......

Better luck next week I guess....

Random post....

Ug, so I am tired and have a yucky cold, but I haven't posted in a while... so here is a half hearted attempt:

A cute nakie baby shot inspired by CoppieCat:

More unique perspectives, i like them! (darn it, I wish I'd stop cropping in too far!):

And of course.... Lessons learned: you know, OTHER than not cropping in too far!

1) Don't use a shutter speed of less than 1/60 when taking pictures of moving children!

This one finally worked out.... but only b/c he held still for a second:  But I learned that white props again, will over expose a lot.

2) Something needs to draw the eye to set up an axis line.  This pic feels so "off" b/c it feels tilted.

3) DON'T shoot in high sun or use it as a background.

 4) Watch the background for things that will stick out in funny places (such as making Z look like he has a lot of hair (it is a bush in the background).

YEAH, next post I get to delve into our mexico trip pictures (from March 09).  Yippie!

Truthful Tuesdays

I encouraged my son to crawl (in fact, I think I begged him), and I do love this.... his cute reaching out to me and the camera...

But I also **HATE** it b/c then I miss a cute shot :-(  or I cut off limbs...

But I guess it is worth it... b/c then I get cute shots like this...

and this....

I used to always ignore these shots... but this post made me go back & look at them anew.  They are so real.  They are so what our life is right now... me chasing my crawling (soon to be walking) boy who gets into everything!!!  I am sure I will look back and these and will miss this stage too.

Oh yes, and to answer Elizabeth's Truthful Tuesday question on Confessions From A Working Mom ...
It is TOO early to decorate!  Lol, especially with a toddler!  I shudder to think of the trouble the tree will create.  We usually decorate the first weekend in December, but who knows when it will happen this year.

Grab the button, play along with the MckLinky on your own blog, or just answer the question by leaving a comment.

Not me Monday!

Jumping on the blogging train... but in a photo kind of way....

As you saw in my previous post... I would NEVER EVER let my baby fall over backwards while taking his photo, that would be a horrible thing to do!

Not only that, I definitely would NEVER EVER continue taking photos of him when he started crying after said fall.

I also would never let my son take in a mouthful of rocks while taking his picture at the park.  Now THAT would be disgusting!!!!  A good photographer would never allow that to happen... not to mention a good mother!

Of course I would never say it was worth it for some cute shots!

Lessons learned while photographing a 6 month old

Pick props wisely (watch out for a lot of white, which can easily be over blown)

Use a diaper cover ;-)  Dispo diaps just aren't attractive to photograph.

If they can't sit up consistently yet, put a pillow behind them so they don't bonk their heads ;-)

Frame the picture wide so as to not cut off limbs... and get a new perspective by putting the camera low.

Why are crying babes so cute to photograph?

In the midst of a nice portrait session February '08....

I discovered that baby butts are cute!

So I took a few pictures....

And tried an edit (do you like it?  Can you SEE any other edits I made?)

But someone became unhappy....

But... I discovered that was cute too.... so I tried another.

Aren't I terrible?
It remains one of my favorite shots ever.
