Day 27 / 365
Yup, it snowed.

Day 26 / 365
I got my speedlight to act remotely using my popup flash as the optical set off.  I know there is a lot to improve upon in this photo, but I am glad I finally figured out how to do this!  Yay!

Day 25 / 365

Day 25 / 365

Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 200, F7.1, SS 1/200, speedlight SB700 bounced off the ceiling.
Playing with ice and fruit.  Kept the toddler busy for quite some time and there was only a minimal mess to clean up.
Imagine this... I've been ill AGAIN, so I am playing catchup.... (man, 2 year olds are such little incubators!)
I've been addicted to my 50mm lens lately.  So small and light, nice and sharp ;-)

Day 24 / 365
Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 200, SS 1/200, F2, spot focus, WB auto, speedlight ttl bounced from ceiling.
Grey bubble wrap.  Who knew it existed?

Day 23 / 365
Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 400, SS 1/800, F2.8, spot focus, WB auto.
I took this picture at a Flickr meets this past weekend.  I'd been meaning to go to a meetup for at least the last year, but DH & I finishing grad school took precedence over playing.  I am SO glad I went to this one, it was for strobes.  I learned SO much!!!  There are some seriously amazing photographers in the group.  Non-natural lighting scares me (mostly b/c of cost), but now that I have this awesome speedlight, I need to learn how to use it!  And it is just seriously cool.

Day22 / 365
Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 200, SS 1/200, F1.8, spot focus, WB auto, natural light.
Yes, lots of painting in our household.

Day21 / 365
Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 1000 (whups, forgot to turn it down again), SS 1/200, F4, spot focus, WB auto, speedlight ttl bounced from ceiling.
I love the way the bead reflects the light bounced from the ceiling.

Day 20 / 365
Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8 lens, ISO 1000 (whups, forgot to turn it down again), SS 1/200, F1.8, spot focus, WB auto, speedlight ttl bounced from ceiling.
my guy's gorgeous hair.... so many women pay so much money to get this color hair.

Day 19 / 365

Even though I am crazy tired today I had fun doing these.  I got the idea from Jodi Friedman posting on The Pioneer Woman (for MCP Actions).  Check the link, it is pretty cool.
The picture taking was ok (as viewed in camera), it wasn't until I looked at the pictures on my computer that I realized they looked pretty cool.  I had fun post processing these b/c I didn't have to make the colors look any particular way (instead I played with it until I liked it).
Which one is your favorite?

Just a quick one to get it done for today :-o  On an up note, my son was the one who aligned the letters ;-)

Day 16 / 365

Nikon D90, 18-55mm lens, ISO 400 (whups), F4.8, SS 1/200, bouncced speedlight off ceiling.  Last nights big salad (yum!).

Days 7,8,9,10,11 / 365

We've been hit by a really bad stomach virus, so I am very behind.  Please forgive the poor effort, when everyone in the house has been very sick for over 5 days, photography just takes a back seat.  All shot w/ Nikon D90 18-55mm lens, some w/ natural light or w/ speedlight likely bounced from the ceiling.  I played in photoshop w/ them a lot, trying to make them look better.

Day 11 /365

Day 10 / 365
Some random stuff lying around I tried to make a picture out of.

Day 9 / 365
The lovely cable mess in my house.  The hubby was in the midst of putting up a new shelf and switching all the electronics in our living room when the toddler got very sick.  So this is the way is stayed....

Day 8 / 365
my poor guy sick and sleeping on the couch with his lovies, I only took one of these.

Day 7 / 365
This is the photo that should have been posted the day my son got sick.  I am convinced I can get this better edited, but my PS skills aren't great and I don't have time right now.  I will revisit later ;-)

Day 6 / 365

Nikon D90, 50mm lens, ISO 100, f2, ss 1/400, natural light.
My deck.  A week ago this leaf was under a good 6 inches of snow.  Then we had a 50degree day.  Then we had flurries.  So pretty.  I am too scared to take my camera outside (b/c last time I took it out in cold weather my popup flash spring broke!), so I opened the patio door and took the picture from inside!

Day 5 / 365

D90, 50mm lens, ISO 200, f3.2, SS 1/200, light tent & speedlight.
Ok, so technically I didn't take this photo today.  I took it 12/29, but I love the photo so and I want it in my 365.  I did do some light edits on it today using TRA to warm and cross process a wee bit.

Day 4 / 365

Catching the gorgeous afternoon light filtering through our southern facing window.  And yes, more choo choo's  ;-)
Nikon D90 18-55mm Lens, ISO 100, f 4.8, SS 1/160 window light.  Light edits w/ crop & TRA actions.

Day 3 / 365

Playing with the choo choos this morning.
Nikon D90 18-55mm lens, iso 400, f 4, SS 1/125, SB700 bounced from ceiling.  Edited in CS4 using TRA.

Day 2 / 365

Nikon D90, ISO400, F 5.3, SS 1/100 18-55mm lens, speedlight SB700 (bounced off the ceiling).

Making Sunday breakfast ---> chocolate pancakes.  Sneaking health into my sons diet ---> pancake mix with a little extra thrown in: chia seeds, wheat germ, some healthy powder stuff, cinnamon.  <:-)

I **just** got my SB700 speedlight for Christmas and am having a *blast* playing with it, even thought I don't know a darn thing about it (other than the first 40 pages of the manual I've read).

Day1 / 365

I am HOPELESSLY behind in trying to "catch up" from when I started my learning journey.  I am still trying to work through pictures from Aug 2009.
Thus, starting today, I am going day by day.  365 me!

 Nikon D90 18-55mm lens f 5, ss 1/250, natural window light.

Snowpops a la McMama's blog.
We made these for our Rosebowl party (GO WI, even though you, um, lost).  They were pretty easy and not too "fussy" so good for kids (if you don't mind a little mess clean up).  And they were delish!!!!!  Briefly, make cake; crush it; mix w/ ~1C cream cheese frosting, make into balls, freeze, put on skewer, dip in chocolate (here colored white chocolate) and add sprinkles.  A few changes to the recipe: 1) freeze the cake balls or they fall off while trying to cover them in chocolate.  2) put a bit of olive oil in the white chocolate once you've added the food coloring... I noticed the chocolate started to "freeze" no matter how much I heated it up (see Good Eats, when you add water to chocolate & inbalance the fat/chocolate ratio it will "freeze" up and not pour as well).

Boy oh boy, I hope I can keep up.  At least 1 photo a day isn't so daunting.  I get caught up in doing all things *perfectly* and getting all the right shots all edited the right way.  Man, that takes a LOT of time!  So here is to 1 photo a day!
